UK Auditions – Season 2023/24

Ballet Black is auditioning for new dancers for the 2023/24 season

Cassa Pancho’s Ballet Black is an award-winning neo-classical ballet company now in its 21st year. We are making a fundamental change in the diversity of classical ballet in Britain – on stage, behind the scenes, and among audiences and dance students. Since Ballet Black was founded in 2001, we have been working to change the landscape of classical ballet through performances, our Junior School and our outreach programmes. We are one of the most prolific commissioners of new and critically acclaimed ballets in the UK and have developed diverse dance audiences across the country. In 2018 we collaborated with Cira Robinson and Freed of London to create the first ever pointe shoes and tights in shades of brown to be made in the UK. We are expanding the Company and looking for new dancers to join us as we enter our 22nd year.

The ideal dancer for us is versatile, creative and understands working as part of a small team. They should have strong classical ballet technique, partnering skills and pointe work, and be open to being part of the creation process of new ballets and making new dance films. Our repertoire includes works from Will Tuckett, Annabelle Lopez-Ochoa, Arthur Pita, Mthuthuzeli November and Sophie Laplane. Male dancers who would like to apply should be a minimum of 5 foot 8” (177cms).

This contract will start in September 2023.
