How can I find out about future performances?

Please check out our Performances page. If nothing is listed, it means we are in the process of planning new work. Signing up to our mailing list guarantees you automatic updates about the Company’s latest news.

What age are your children’s classes for?

At the moment, we run classes for three to eight year olds. Boys and girls are both very welcome. Check out the Ballet School link for details. We are always aiming to expand; if you do not see a class suitable for you/your child’s age group, please send us an email with BALLET SCHOOL in the title and we will let you know if/when we start any new classes.

I read that Cassa Pancho wrote a dissertation about black dancers in ballet. Where can I get a copy?

Unfortunately, “All Things Black and Beautiful” is no longer available for view, but if you are a student or journalist who would like to interview Cassa for an article or school project, please send us an email and write SCHOOL PROJECT/ARTICLE in the subject line. We try to answer all questions, but at certain times of year, we are inundated with requests. Your patience is appreciated.

What is the Ballet Black Associate Programme (BBA) and how can I join?

The Ballet Black Associate Programme is a ballet class for dancers over the age of fourteen. We run two classes: Elementary and Advanced/Professional level. It is an invitation only class, and students need to be of at least an Elementary standard of ballet to join. This does not mean beginners, Elementary means that you have at least: a good knowledge of the ballet vocabulary and can execute a wide range of ballet steps. This is to ensure you get the most out of the class. You must also be willing to abide by our rules and regulations (issued upon being accepted). If you would like to be considered for the BBA, please email us your full name, age, details of training/work experience and mobile number and write ASSOCIATE PROGRAMME in the subject line. Please do not send your CV as an attachment, keep the text in the body of your email.

Can you assist me financially?

No. Ballet Black is not a funding body – we are happy to offer advice on funding (though your guess is as good as ours!) but we cannot assist you with school fees or money of any kind.

Why haven’t I had a response to my email?

We receive hundreds of emails each week, so perhaps we haven’t reached yours yet. Otherwise, make sure you have done the following:

• If you are writing for the attention of the Artistic Director, please note that she doesn’t like to be referred to as Sir!

• Are you asking a question that has already been answered somewhere on the site?

• If you have sent an email with an attachment, we may not open it. Please re-send with your question/information/CV in the body of the email text.
